Back in the day, and I mean way back in the day, crossbows were a bit less complex than the CenterPoint Sniper 370. However, they were revolutionary. Bowmen used to be higher status than the common man due to the years they had to devote to mastering their craft. Then came the crossbow, a device that can launch arrows with deadly precision and it only took weeks to master.

They were powerful tools of war back then, but nowadays they're just a great tool to hunt with. First, modern crossbows are just really cool devices. The Walking Dead anyone? Second, in many states, you can get away with using crossbows during archery season, allowing you to hunt earlier than with a firearm. And finally, crossbows don't require the excessive movement compound bows demand when preparing to take a shot, keeping you better concealed on the hunt.

Compared to crossbows of the past, the CenterPoint Sniper 370 is a technological wonder. However, we're here to decide if the Sniper 370 is worth it in the modern day. And to find out if it's worth its salt, we'll have to dive deep into every aspect of the crossbow.

Looking Over the CenterPoint Sniper 370

Some states only allow crossbows for disabled individuals, and Oregon doesn't let you use crossbows for hunting at all. TenPoint's website has a resource to help you see if you can use crossbows for hunting in your state.

What does it include?

There's quite a bit that comes with the CenterPoint Sniper 370. With all of these included accessories, you'll be set to go out and hunt in no time. Just assemble your crossbow, sight it in, and you're good to go.

Beginners to crossbow assembly, on the other hand, may have a little difficulty due to the unclear instructions in the crossbow's user manual. All together it should take less than 20 minutes to put together the CenterPoint Sniper 370, and it will be noticeably faster for folks with experience.

Accuracy

When buying a crossbow, one of your first concerns is whether it's accurate or not. Thankfully, the accuracy of the CenterPoint Sniper 370 is spot on up to 50 yards. In the 20- to 40-yard range, the CenterPoint Sniper 370 is deadly accurate. It's not difficult to keep a tight grouping with this crossbow, and with its red-green illuminated sight, you'll even stay accurate in sub-par weather.

Hunting

And with its high speed and powerful kinetic energy, you're able to take down just about anything. Beginners may find the crossbow a bit too heavy, but if you're going to be in a tree stand, that won't be a big issue. Furthermore, the crossbow comes with a sling, making trekking around with the CenterPoint Sniper 370 a much less intensive task than it would otherwise be.

Diving into the specs

Looking into the specs of the CenterPoint Sniper 370, the first thing to mention is the crossbow is 36.5 inches long, with a cocked width of 18 inches. When making our review, we looked at what various publishers had to say about the Sniper 370. We found the common praises and complaints publishers and reviewers had and worked them into our review. We did this so you get the opinion of multiple reviewers, rather than from a singular point of view. Our philosophy is if multiple reviewers praise the Sniper 370 for the same feature, it's one you'll likely enjoy too. On the other hand, we felt if multiple reviewers brought up the same issue, you'd likely come across the issue as well. How the CenterPoint Sniper 370 Compares Against Other Top Brands

Although the CenterPoint Sniper 370 is an outstanding crossbow for its price range, it's not the only one. The Barnett Whitetail Hunter II, TenPoint Wicked Ridge Invader G3, and Carbon Express X-Force Piledriver 390 all have extraordinary value for their crossbows. In fact, some of these crossbows may be a better choice for you than the CenterPoint Sniper 370 depending on your preferences.

The Barnett Whitetail Hunter II is the lightest out of all of the crossbows we reviewed. For its weight of 6.4 pounds, it manages to put an impressive 350 feet per second on its bolts. Along with its fast FPS, the crossbow also reaches a strong 103 foot-pounds of kinetic energy. The well-crafted crossbow has a manageable 150-pound draw weight. As for its dimensions, when cocked, the axle to axle width is 16.125 inches, and its length is 34.25 inches. Although the Barnett Whitetail Hunter II has many pros, it isn't perfect, as it is a bit loud. However, with a price of $250 to $450 and rocking 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon, the crossbow is a great deal for its low price.

If you're willing to spend a bit more than the CenterPoint Sniper 370, the Wicked Ridge Invader G3 has tremendous value for its price. Like the Sniper 370, the Wicked Ridge Invader G3 can take out just about any animal you want to hunt. 4.5 out of  stars

Somehow the Carbon Express X-Force Piledriver 390 matches every previously mentioned crossbow in price, while boasting the highest FPS out of all of them. Its high FPS makes the Piledriver a powerful and accurate crossbow. Reaching out to as far as 60 yards, the crossbow remains reliable. Furthermore, the crossbow is even lighter than the CenterPoint Sniper 370, weighing in at 7.2 pounds. One of the biggest complaints of the Piledriver is its mediocre stock scope, which you could replace. With a price of $274 to $475 and 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon, the Carbon Express X-Force Piledriver is a terrific purchase.

Pros and Cons of the CenterPoint Sniper 370

For an entry-level crossbow, the CenterPoint Sniper 370 shines due to its power and accuracy. The Sniper 370 doesn't have as much power as the Piledriver 390 but does beat the Invader G3 and Whitetail Hunter II. However, the Sniper 370 is the heaviest of the crossbows mentioned in this review, which can be a breaking point for hunters who tend to be on the move. If you prefer to hunt from tree stands, though, the Sniper 370 is a reliable crossbow that should serve you well.

PROS

  • Powerful
  • Accurate
  • Consistent
  • Affordable

CONS

  • Vague assembly instructions
  • Heavy
  • List Element

Our Final Opinion

There are a few special crossbows that offer outstanding value for an entry-level price. The Sniper 370 is definitely one of them. Although the variety of exceptional crossbows does make it difficult to recommend the CenterPoint Sniper 370 as your only choice. If you don't plan on hiking a lot, the Sniper 370 is a suitable choice. If you're frequently on the move though, the Whitetail Hunter II may be more up your alley due to its low weight.

No matter what you decide on, the CenterPoint Sniper 370 remains a terrific crossbow that you'll likely love to have in your arsenal.
